JBS Workers Strike a Deal
MEAT Workers at JBS Scone have voted to accept a new agreement, after more than 70 of them walked of the job in protest last month.
Grant Courtney, Newcastle and Northern NSW secretary for the Australasian Meat Industry Employees’ Union said the workers knew JBS was a highly profitable company and wanted a better offer.
“This is another great example of what workers can achieve when they stand together, stand up, and stand strong,” said Mr Courtney.
“By joining the union and saying ‘no’, these workers have secured great pay rises and made the company respect that the weekend is their time, not the company’s time,” he said.
“We congratulate all of our members on this good outcome,” Grant Courtney said.
