Investing in Our Regions Future
HUNTER Local Land Services annual business plan for 2017- 2018 has been released, detailing an investment of nearly six million dollars key areas including sustainable land management, agricultural extension, flood mitigation and improving the natural environment.
The plan provides an annual framework for regional implementation of the Local Land Services State Strategic Plan 2016-202626 and the Hunter Local Strategic Plan 2016-2021.
Highlights of the plan include investments of:
• $1.22 million to support primary producers implement sustainable and profitable land management practices
• $231,000 in priority pests and weeds, employing 7.5 dedicated staff
• $124,000 to increase the participation of Aboriginal groups in natural resource management
• $1.5 million to maintain flood mitigation structures and floodgate management for the protection of Lower Hunter communities
• $2.89 million for a range of initiatives to improve our natural environment
Brett Miners, General Manager of Hunter Local Land Service is striving to continuously improve planning and service delivery within the region.
“This Business Plan articulates the allocation of our financial and staff resources to delivery of the priority services expected by our Board, investors and customers,” said Mr Miners.
“High quality annual service delivery is underpinned by the dedication of our staff, our commitment to partnerships and our support for productive agriculture and other land managers to provide long term benefit for their economies, environments and communities.
“A key focus over the next 12 months will be strengthening our partnerships with industry and community groups, to help secure the future of agriculture and the environment for our community,” said Brett Miners.
