$600 Haircut Worth It
By Des Dugan
What’s a haircut worth these days? Around $637.40 according to Willowtree resident Bobby Seckhold.
That’s what the Royal Hotel in Murrurundi raised for the Cowboys’ Cancer Foundation over the weekend for removing Bobby’s age-old beard and wiry snowy locks.
The event was part of a drive for the newly formed Foundation following a cowboys reunion held recently at the town’s oldest pub.
Of course Bobby had to put up with the “no second dinner any more Bobby” jibes and “have to drink the soup without the strainer any more”, and “don’t be surprised if the dog bites you when you get home.”
In fact, over the last few weeks the pub has raised $1627.40 for the Foundation including a Pink Ribbon day and the return of the cowboy’s weekend which included 87-year-old locals like Arthur Chalkorey, Aub Tribe and Terry Purcell.
The Cowboys Reunion will be on again next year but this time on the October Long Weekend.
Just in time for Bobby to grow some more locks for trimming.
Some say his wife would not talk to him for a few days but mused: “she’ll get over that — it only tickled anyway!”
