Golf Results: Feb 4-7
ON Thursday, February 4, a great field turned up at Scone Golf Course for the ladies 9 hole competition for the Kerv voucher. The winner was Sarah Howey who had 19 points with balls going to Julie Leckie 18, Narelle Rutter 17, Ruth Wallace 16, Fiona Groom, Noreen Marshall 15, Catherine Russell and Kathy Robinson 14 points.
Next Thursday, February 11, the ladies play the last 9 hole event on the back nine for the Fridge and The Frying Pan voucher. The 18 hole season commences with a Stableford for a Scone Sporties Trophy on February 18. There will also be the introduction of a 9’s enough weekly competition held from Friday to Thursday.
On Saturday, February 6, the Scone men golfers played an 18 Hole Stroke / Stableford for the Monthly Mug.
The course was well presented and the winner was Scott Shann with a very fine 70 nett. Grade winners were: A Grade David Walters with 38 points, visitor Justin Price burned up the course with 47 points to win B Grade, whilst Les Cottam won C Grade with 33 points.
The NTP on the 2nd / 11th was won by Justin Price 1.15 metres and on the 8th / 17th by Stuart Dawson 3.6 metres. Balls were won by Justin Price 47, Scott Shann, David Walters 38, Ross Banks, Gordon Halliday, Duncan Yuille, James Swanson (Vis), Sean Constable 36, David Druce 34, Geoff Ferguson and Les Cottam 33 on a countback.
In the ladies 18 Hole Stableford Lyn Banks had the best score with 32 points.
Next Saturday, February 13, an 18 Hole Stableford will be played for the David Bradshaw and Rod Vaughan trophy. Entries for the Snyman FB knockout close and round 3 of the Summer Knockout must also be played.
In the A Grade Hunter River District Pennant game on Sunday February 7, Scone played Maitland at Kurri and went down 4-1. Mac Dawson had a good win 4&3, whilst Simon Groom and Jeff Harrington had close losses. The next match is against Kurri at Singleton.
On Sunday, February 14, a popular 9 hole 4 person Ambrose will be played with a shotgun start at 2.30pm. This is open to members and non-members and is a great way to make a start in the game.
