Golf Course Not Ready
THE new Scone Golf course was scheduled to hold the inaugural golf tournament on Thursday, as part of the Horse Festival, however the golf course is not ready to be played.
The Scone Race Club and Horse Festival had planned a sportsman’s lunch with celebrities being invited to play a round of golf on the new course as part of their time visiting Scone for the races.
SKY was scheduled to broadcast from the course and significant prizes including a stallion nomination from I Am Invincible worth more than $200,000 and secured sponsors including the TAB and Inglis.
The Council has said they now expect to take management of the new course at the end of May and hold the official opening in June.
Since 2017 more than $4 million has been spent to reconstruct the golf course due to the Scone bypass route.
The new course will include a fully automated irrigation system, on site bore and two enlarged ponds storing treated water.
Once the golf course is complete Council will open expressions of interest to manage and maintain the new course.
