Get Your Dishes Ready
IN the name of Harmony Day international cuisine will be served up in Scone next month and the call is out for people to prepare a dish.
The Scone Neighbourhood Resource Centre in partnership with the Scone Library will host the delicious event, which coincides with the United Nations international day for the elimination of racial discrimination.
Lee Watts, manager of the Scone Neighbourhood Resources Centre, said the wide variety of food is fantastic.
“Last year we held a very successful evening and it was attended by many people from a wide variety of backgrounds to share food such as Nepalese chicken, South African boototie, curries, pavlova and much more.”
“Whether you are from Singapore, Pakistan or Australia everyone is welcome to attend and encouraged to bring a dish that reflects their background.
“It is a free and a delicious way to share cultural diversity.” she said
Elizabeth Walter, coordinator at Scone Library said people are also encouraged to dress up for the occasion.
“Entertainment has been organised for the night and we are encouraging those attending to come in traditional dress,” said Ms Walter.
The ‘share a world of food’ evening will be held on Wednesday, March 23 at 6pm at the Scone Grammar School, with entry through the Kingdon Street gates.
