Gates Open Earlier in Merriwa

THE Merriwa swimming pool will return to the hours of operation from last season and once again be open at 6am on weekdays, following community feedback.

Council and the pool operator, Lifeguarding Services Australia, trialed changing the hours to ensure the pool was available during higher use times, such as school programs.

The Council will subsidise the cost of opening the pool to schools and other use outside of the previous pool hours, to help reduce the fees charged to these groups.

Other improvements at the pool include installing a new shade sale and a portable BBQ, while options for a permanent one are being investigated.

The new hours include:

• Monday to Friday 6.00am-8.00am, 3.00pm-6.00pm
• Wednesday as above and 9.00am-10.00am
• Saturday and Sunday 1.00pm-6.00pm
• Closed Christmas Day 25 December and New Year’s Day 1 January, and at 5pm on Christmas Eve.
• During the school holidays there may be extended hours
