Fun Run Has Run

THE Scone Amateur Athletics Club held their fun run yesterday at the Scone Race Club with the 10km overall win taken out by Michael Southcombe from Muswellbrook.

Mr Southcombe ran with his family and enjoys that this is something he can do locally, his son Will came first in the under 12 5km run, his daughter Meg came second in the 5km girls 12 to 17 category and his wife Sarah cam third in the female 10km category.

“It’s a good family fun event and big shout out to the local groups who put these events on and thanks to the Scone Athletics club for today, there is not a lot of events locally like this so it has been great”said Michael Southcombe.

Organizer Nicky Western was pleased with the event and especially the number of local runners taking part.

The Southconme family fom Muswellrook L-R Will, Meg, Michael and Sarah who all took out placings in the fun run with Michael Southcombe being the overall winner.

“We had about 50 runners, the two kilometer was very popular but the rest of them were split between the five and ten, there were loads of local runners which was really nice. It was also well supported by the group in Quirindi.”

“This is the ninth year that we have run it and this is the second year out at the race track and it’s just brilliant, the race track have been fantastic and because we’re now doing before the Scone cup they said we can go wherever, they mowed it all for us and it’s just a great venue.”

“The council are also supportive of it, they gave us a lot of the lucky prizes so we had prizes to give away to the participants, Anytime Fitness gave us some prizes as well,” Nicky Western said.

10km Overall Female – 1st Zandra Pitman, 2nd Larissa Burke, 3rd Sarah Southcombe.

10km Overall Male – 1st Michael Southcombe, 2nd – Shane Lloyd, 3rd – Julien Atteroux.

5km Overall Female – Kate Lloyd.

5km Overall Male– Reece Jones.

5km Under 12 Female – 1st Lucy Scanlan, 2nd Sarah Shankley, 3rd Bridie Douglas.

5km Under 12 Male- 1st Will Southcombe

5km Female 12-17 – 1st Chloe Ralston, 2nd Meg Southcombe, 3rd Ashya McRae.

5km Male 12-17 – 1st Roly Ward-Thomas.

Kent and Fay Flaherty: Kay excelled coming first in her division, but Kent only got second place. (Kent is the cousin of Editor).

5km Female 18+ – 1st Fay Flaherty, 2nd Polly Yuille, 3rd Sal Ward-Thomas.

5km Male 18+ – 1st Duncan Yuille, 2nd Kent Flaherty, 3rd Michael Burke.

2km Overall Female – 1st Millie McRae.

2km Overall male – 1st Olli Schumaker.
