Bengalla Group 21 Grand Finals Tomorrow
THE Scone Thoroughbreds will be hosting the Bengalla Group 21 Grand Finals at Scone Park tomorrow – Saturday, September 7.
Game times below.
After an outstanding 2018 where the Club were premiers in all Grades, they have had another very strong 2019 season with First Grade, Reserve Grade and Ladies League Tag finishing minor premiers.
Both First Grade and League Tag won their major semis for entry to the grand finals while unfortunately for the Reserve Grade, they bowed out last week with a defeat.
The First Grade competition only had four teams competing – a disappointing outcome, however the Aaron Watts coached Thoroughbreds have been the form team throughout.
Going through the 15 rounds undefeated and winning the major semi final 30:16 against Aberdeen who they will take on again in the Grand Final.
The two teams also played each other last year with the roles reversed – Scone the underdogs on that occasion.
Scone will be without their inspirational Captain Daniel Ritter who injured his knee in their last game – however they are confident in their replacements and will maintain the same attitude and approach that has proven successful during the season. The game starts at 2:30pm.
The Ladies League Tag will be playing the Murrurundi team who have provided stiff opposition through the whole season.
Murrurundi defeated Scone once during the season and will be keen to repeat that performance.
The Scone team is Coached by Sofie Casson who will be playing in her fifth grand final in six years since the competition began.
The Scone team has an enviable record, having won on every occasion – four of the wins with Casson as Captain Coach.
The Ladies League Tag kicks off at 10am so be there early – this game should be a beauty.
The under 18’s will see the undefeated Singleton team take on Aberdeen, while in Reserve Grade, Merriwa and Aberdeen will go head to head.
A big crowd is anticipated and the Scone Club is encouraging as much Blue and White support, to get to the games.
