First Snow Fall

Filed in Recent News by June 17, 2018

THE first snow of the season has fallen on the Barrington Tops.

The Bureau of Meteorology has no measurements for the snow but recorded 1 millimetre of rainfall, which they said usually equates to 1 centimetre of snowfall.

“There has been a cold front which has moved through and another cool air mass is coming from around the Central Tablelands, which will also be conducive to snow,” said Jordan Notara.

“There is a strong wind warning for the lower Hunter and while there will be some cold wind in the Upper Hunter, there is no warning in place,” he said.

“We are expected to see some more rain into Monday and the early part of next week around Scone, but it will be light rainfall,” he said.
