Fatal motorcycle crash in Merriwa

A FIFTY-FIVE year old man sadly died last night, following a motorcycle accident at Old Scone Road and Macartney Street, Merriwa.

Emergency services were called to the scene at approximately 10:15 pm, after receiving reports a Triumph motorcycle with a rider and a pillion passenger had left the road and both persons had been thrown from the bike.

Unfortunately, the male rider from Hamilton died at the scene.

His 29 year old passenger was taken to John Hunter Hospital with minor injuries.

The deceased rider is yet to be formally identified and police have launched an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the crash.
