Everyone Will Hang

THE Scone Art Prize is ideal for artists displaying their work for the first time and new artists are encouraged to enter.

Roger Skinner of Scone Arts and Crafts said the Scone Art Prize encourages artists to ‘go for it’.

“The only way you are going to find out as an artist how you measure up is to put your work in competition,” said Mr Skinner.

“It was after I won the Scone Art Prize for photography that my work really gained momentum,” he said.

“The exhibition is not a selective exhibition, so everything gets hung at Scone and it means you can unearth some good new talent,” Roger Skinner said.

The judge will be artist Dr Trevor Weekes, who is a senior lecturer in design and natural history illustration at the University of Newcastle.

Last year there were approximately 200 entries last year and organisers are hoping for a similar number this year.
