Easter Sales Wrapped with Success
THE Iglis Easter Yearling sales wrapped up yesterday grossing more than $105 million during the three days.
Johnathan D’Arcy, bloodstock manager for Inglis, said the sales produced very good results.
“Any time you trade over a $105 million of blood stock it’s a good week,” said Mr D’Arcy.
“There was very strong competition throughout the week and it’s very pleasing to see the Hunter Valley bred horses are so popular,” he said.
“The leading domestic stallion was Redoute’s Choice who stands aat Arrowfield Stud, he sold 20 yearlings for $11.5 million so an average of $573,000,” Johnathan D’Arcy said.
The top price for yesterday was $1,750,000 for a colt by Redoute’s Choice and National Colour by Arrowfield to Shadwell Stud.
The top price for the sale overall was the colt sold by Segenhoe Stud on Wednesday for $2.3 million, from Snitzel and Vegas Showgirl and a half-brother to Winx which won the Doncaster on Saturday.
The clearance rate was 83 percent, nine horses fetched more than $1 million each and the lading Upper Hunter stud was Arrowfield which sold 21 yearlings for $9.5 million.
Coolmore sold 24 yearlings for $7.5 million, Segenhoe sold 13 for $6.4 million and Widden sold 23 for $6.2 million.
