Drug Raid: Murrurundi and Aberdeen Men Arrested
TODAY police released information on their recent drug investigations, including a search warrant on a Murrurundi home which unearthed what they allege was an inactive methylamphetamine lab, resulting in the arrests of a 45 Murrurundi man, a 47 year old Billys Creek (near Dorrigo) man and a 42 year old Aberdeen man.
On Friday, August 14, police stopped a white Nissan utility on Waterfall Way at Ebor about 5pm and allegedly seized methylamphetamine, ammunition and chemicals used in the manufacture of prohibited drugs.
The Murrurundi and Billys Creek men were arrested and taken to Armidale police station and are appearing in Armidale court today.
The same day police executed a search warrant at a home in Murrurundi, which uncovered an alleged clandestine inactive drug lab. Police established a crime scene and the site underwent forensic testing.
The next day, police arrested a 42 year old Aberdeen man on charges of manufacture a large commercial quantity of prohibited drugs. He has been refused bail and is due to appear in Muswellbrook Local Court on October 19.
On Thursday, August 20 New South Wales Police and Australian Federal Police executed a search warrant at a property in Billys Creek, where they located glassware used in the manufacture of prohibited drugs, a kilogram of dried cannabis and approximately 10 litres of chemicals believed to be either prohibited drugs or precursors used in their manufacture. The chemicals have been sent for further forensic testing.
Strikeforce Delisle, comprising of detectives from the Coffs Harbour and Clarence Police District, have been targeting the Coffs Harbour, Clarence and Hunter Valley region, where they believe a network of drug manufacture and distribution is occurring.
Detective Chief Inspector Guy Flaherty from Coffs/Clarence Police District said the arrests will disrupt the supply network of methylamphetamine across several regions.
“We will be alleging this illegal activity not only affected the Coffs Coast area, their connections also stemmed into our Hunter Valley and New England regions,” said Chief Inspector Flaherty.
“Through fantastic collaborative work and information sharing with our neighbouring police districts, we have been able to interrupt a cross-region drug network of both manufacture and supply,” he said.
“Strike Force Delisle remains ongoing with further investigation and arrests expected,” Detective Chief Inspector Flaherty said.
