Drought Workshops
“Landholders are reporting unprecedented conditions on their properties, after both normal spring rain and decent summer storms have failed to eventuate,” said Justine Baird, regional pastures officer for Hunter Local Land Services.
“Many producers have chosen to offload stock because of critical feed and water shortages, however some are still grappling with these hard decisions,” she said.
Hunter Local Land Services will hold a series of “Regional Producer Update” workshops this month, to provide advice and support to landholders battling drought conditions.
“We want to help producers make the best decisions for their situation, in what has been an unfortunate season so far,” said Ms Baird.
“These workshops will help connect landholders with industry experts, our staff and other support services that can assist them as we move into autumn and winter,” Justine Baird said.
The Upper Hunter producer update at “Thornthwaite” on 22 February, will focus on drought management advice including early weaning, water management, animal health issues, producer experience for managing drought conditions and financial assistance options.
RSVP’s are now being accepted through Hunter Local Land Services Scone Office on: 02 6540 2400.
