Driver reviver facility facelift
CONSTRUCTION of the new 32 metre squared driver reviver facility will begin this week at the Merriwa Park.
The $150,000 project is federally funded under the Local Roads and Community Infrastructure Program and will include a hand washing basin, security roller shutters and covered aluminium table and seating.
The driver reviver facility joins Merriwa’s new $291,000 skatepark and toilet amenities on the corner of King George V Avenue and Quigley Street, which were completed last year.
When the new area is completed, the exisiting Merriwa driver reviver facility will be demolished.
Member for New England Barnaby Joyce said the new facilities will greatly encourage more tourist stop-overs.
“It’s great to see these developments underway at Merriwa, supporting local jobs, trade suppliers and driving the tourist dollar just that little bit further in cafes and shops across town,” said Mr Joyce.
