Covid numbers – Monday

THERE were 44 new cases of covid identified in the Hunter New England health area in the past 24 hours and there are currently 914 active cases in the area.

There are 16 people hospitalised and three people in intensive care.

The case breakdown by local government area is as follows:

• 7 – Newcastle
• 6 – Lake Macquarie
• 5 – Tamworth
• 2 – Inverell
• 2 – Port Stephens
• 1 – Cessnock
• 1 – Dungog
• 1 – Liverpool Plains
• 1 – Moree Plains

Statewide covid figures:

• 165 new cases
• 216 people hospitalised
• 32 people in intensive care
• 15 require ventilation
• 1 person has died – a woman in her 80s
