Covid: No new local cases identified
ANOTHER 78 cases of covid-19 were identified in the Hunter New England Local Health District, but no new cases in the Upper Hunter, Muswellbrook or Singleton local government areas.
If testing numbers are high it may be a great sign that the spread of the virus has been slowed locally, but it may also indicate cases in the community are unidentified. Please assume there are still cases circulating in the community and practice proper infection control.
Of the 78 new cases there were:
- 22 in Cessnock
- 14 in Newcastle
- 12 in the Mid Coast
- 7 in Maitland
- 7 in Port Stephens
- 2 in Tamworth
Statewide covid numbers:
- 446 new cases identified
- 716 people are hospitalised
- 150 people are in intensive care
- 76 people are being ventilated
- 4 people have died
- 3 people in their 70s
- 1 person in their 60s

- 108 South Western Sydney
- 87 are from Western Sydney
- 78 are from Hunter New England
- 36 are from South Eastern Sydney
- 34 are from Sydney
- 23 are from Illawarra Shoalhaven
- 20 are from Nepean Blue Mountains
- 17 are from Central Coast
- 14 are from Western NSW
- 12 are from Northern NSW
- 9 are from Northern Sydney
- 2 are from Murrumbidgee
- 1 is from Mid North Coast
- 1 is in a correctional setting
- 2 yet to be assigned to an LHD.
