Covid update: More venues of concern in Newcastle

CURRENTLY no new cases of covid-19 have been detected in the Tamworth or Armidale local government areas have been reported.

Another 13 cases have been confirmed in Newcastle and more venues of concern have been identified in the area: NSW Covid-19 venues of concern.

Minister Hazzard would not comment on reports that the man who travelled to Byron Bay is not cooperating with police and attempted to leave hospital last night.

Brad Hazzard, Minister for Health said, it is difficult to contain the spread when most people are doing the right thing, but a few don’t, “what does worry me is no matter what legal orders are in place…you can’t legislate against, arrogance and stupidity.”

There were 356 new cases of Covid identified in the past 24 hours.

• 4 cases were in returning residents quarantine, and a returning citizen, a man in his 80s who was unvaccinated as died.
• There were three other people who have died in the past 24 hrs, all of whom were unvaccinated: an 80 year old man, a lady in her 80s and a man in his 70s.
