Filed in Just In by September 1, 2021

CASES of covid continue to spread throughout regional New South Wales and sewerage networks are detecting the presence of the virus where cases are undetected.

Gunnedah sewerage has now tested positive and like Tamworth the associated cases are yet to be identified, so the communities are being encouraged to come forward for testing to stop any spread of the virus.

In the past 24 hours 1118 cases of covid-19 have been diagnosed across the state.

There are now 917 hospitalised, 105 people are in ICU, 66 people are being ventilated and 4 people have died. Of the people in ICU, 127 were unvaccinated.

The four people who have died were all women, one in their 50s, 60s, 70s and 80s. All were unvaccinated and all have significant underlying health conditions.
