Council Warns No Naked Flames!
UPPER Hunter Shire Council has issued a warning to residents between the Kelly Street and Mount Street intersection to the Bill Rose Sports Complex in Scone, not to have any fires or naked flames in the open, as a fuel spill is managed.
Council said residents have been initially advised by staff conducting door knocking and NSW Fire and Rescue are continuing to monitor atmospheric vapour levels in the area.
Sewer lines between the BP service station at the intersection of Guernsey Street and the Scone sewerage treatment plant are continuing to be flushed, but fuel is still present on the lines.
The section of sewer line may need to be replaced and Council are considering using in-pipe cameras between Belmore Street and Guernsey Street, underneath Kelly Street, to find leaks or damage.
