Council Finally Fixes Murrurundi Units
TENDERS for the demolition and replacement of two units on Liverpool Street will be advertised this week, with works set to be complete by June 2021.
The Murrurundi units were destroyed by an internal fire in May 2019.

Upper Hunter Shire Council approved the development application for the units last week and tender applications will close on December 3, so Council can consider the tenders at the December meeting.
Councillor Josh Brown expressed his disappointment over how long it took Council to “get to this point”.
“You’ve got elderly residents living next door and apart from the fact that it is an eyesore, they’re concerned about vermin, they’re concerned about somebody possibly squatting there,” he said.
Councillor Ron Campbell said Murrurundi residents have waited a long time for Council to take action.
“Maybe we’ve learned some lessons about how we can speed things up,” he said.
New units are expected to cost $250,000 and will be funded by Insurance funds and Council’s restricted assets reserves.
