Cottage Fetches Top Prices
THE Cottage restaurant in Scone fetched almost double their fundraising goal at yesterday’s Melbourne Cup luncheon.
Tammy Selwood, from the Cottage in Scone said they had hoped to raise $6,600 for the Scott Memorial Hospital to purchase two vital monitoring machines, but raised $11,195.
“It is almost double what we were hoping for so it is awesome,” said Ms Selwood.
“When I ring the hospital I think they will be quite excited, they were hoping for one vital monitoring machine and excited that there might be two, so now we’ll have to go back to the board and find out what else we can purchase for them,” she said.
“I think the hospital is a great cause, so much goes on for mental health and the Westpac chopper and the hospital is not as glamorous, but at some stage everyone has had an emergency visit to the hospital,” she said.
“This is only the second year we have held the event, but I think it will become an annual event,” Tammy Selwood said.
“The biggest prize was a private dinner party for eight people in your home with Colin as the chef, four course meal, staff and wine which sold for $4,500,” she said.
“We began that auction item by saying it might be a toasted cheese sandwich unless there was a good price, but it will be a very good dinner party now,” she laughed.
A return flight from Sydney and back for eight people sold for $2,500 donated by Airspeed Aviation.
Other items which went under the hammer to raise money in an auction included, an air-conditioner from Sawyers, a painting by Marlon Dalton, a weekend in Mudgee from Robert Oatley Wines, a photography session by Danni Harrison Photography and Scone Digital Imaging, gym membership from Anytime Fitness, cookbooks and magazine subscriptions from Tea Blossoms and Potter Macqueen, Luna Park pass from Ausure, birthday cake made by Tammy Selwood, coffee from St Ali Coffee, champagne packages from the Cottage, beer from New England Bewery and advertising packages from the Entertainer and scone.com.au.
