LAST night the Christmas carols at Straathearn Aged Care in Scone saw more than 300 members of the community enjoy carols with the residents.

Scone Singers led the carols, with a short performance from St Mary’s students, Jenny and Steve Sylvester told the story of the nativity with children from the audience and Margaret Wicks coordinated the growing event.
Matthew Downie, chief executive officer of Strathearn Aged Care said this year the number of children at the carols put a smile on the faces of many residents.
“It’s a huge benefit for our residents in care to be able to enjoy an event like that and to invite the community into Strathearn,” said Mr Downie.
“It is something they genuinely look forward to every year, particularly with the number of young children and families who came along, having the St Mary’s children there this year was a wonderful thing and you can just see their faces light up which is great to see,” he said.
“There was certainly a nice turn out which was great to see and we’d certainly like to see it continue to grow and we encourage the community to spend some time at Strathearn with the Strathearn residents,” Matthew Downie said.
