Bypass Approved Now the Details
TODAY the Roads and Maritime Services announced the Scone bypass has been approved and it will now progress to final detailed design.
The environmental assessment was finalised in April and the submissions report which details the community feedback and context for the changes in the latest designs is available online: RMS Scone Bypass Update.
There were 211 public submissions for the bypass design and 187 submissions for the rail over bridge options.
The main changes to the bypass include:
- northern and southern bypass approach have all turning movements;
- improved visibility at St Aubin’s Street intersection;
- Aberdeen Street to be widened and
- modifications to improve access to properties near the northern and southern approaches.
There will be further consultation on the rial bridge overpass later this year.
