Bringing the Teal to Scone
MIM and Liv Bower have been inspired by a close family friend to raise money for Ovarian Cancer today and hope the Scone community will help them when they drop by Coles this afternoon.
Their mum, Michelle Bower said she was incredibly proud of the fundraising her girls had done to date and while they had hoped to crack $500, they have already raised $2,000.
“We have a dear friend of ours, Bev Betts and she is on her third different cancer in five years and she is the most beautiful woman, in fact Olivia’s middle name is Beverly after this lady,” said Ms Bower.
“Her daughter Liz told me they were selling teal ribbons in Walcha, Armidale and Guyra and first I thought about going up, but then they suggested sending some ribbons to Scone,” she said.
“I contacted the school (Scone Grammar School) and they were on board, so we will sell them at recess and lunch and at 3:30 we will be at Coles and stay there until we sell out,” Michelle Bower said.
The Grammar Grind will sell the ribbons next Monday and there has been an Everyday Hero page set up where people can donate: Paint the Town Teal.
