Belltrees: A Big Day For A Little School
THERE are more than 150 people expected to return to Belltrees Public School to celebrate 140 years today.
There have been many smaller schools which have closed through the decades, but the Belltrees school has a special place in the broader community, support Katy Tyler P&C secretary and mother of two current students at the school said was critical to the school’s success.
“The school is looking really beautiful, the Scone Men’s Shed has built garden beds for vege patches, National Parks have donated old signs, Plants of Main have donated lots of trees, veges and plants and we are opening pavers today with former student and teacher names engraved on them,” said Ms Tyler.
“We have ex-princpals Don Emms, Johanna Teague and Joy Cooksey all coming, many ex-students and the education director Sean Andrews,” she said.
“There is a display of memorabilia, including many of the smaller schools around the area which closed decades ago and I’m sure there will be many ex-students that will recognise people in the old photos.
“The CWA will be bringing out cakes and the P&C will be doing a BBQ, so there will be plenty of food and drinks.
“Serena White will be doing tours of thee Belltrees property and we can still fit a few people on the buses,” she said.
“The school has been supported by so many people and it is looking really beautiful,” Katy Tyler said.
After the celebrations at the School, the fun will continue at the Linga Longa Hotel with a Trivia Night.
