Australia Day Awards 2021
NOMINATION forms for the Upper Hunter Shire Australia Day awards are now available at all libraries, Council administration offices and online, with nominations closing on Friday, November 6.
The awards will be presented at the four Australia Day ceremonies held at Aberdeen, Murrurundi, Merriwa and Scone on Tuesday, January 26, 2021.
Everyone is encouraged to nominate both individuals and organisations, as a way to say thank you to the inspiring people contributing to the Upper Hunter community.
All nominees will be recognised for their achievements during the ceremonies and the Upper Hunter Shire Australia Day Citizen of the Year and Young Citizen will be chosen from the list of town winners.
Awards list Aberdeen, Scone Murrurundi and Merriwa:
- Community Group of the Year;
- Citizen of the Year awarded to a person or a couple, who are inspirational role models and have made significant contributions to the community;
- Young Citizen of the Year is open to a resident under the age of 25 years (as at 26 January 2020);
- Achiever and Young Achiever are open to residents who are inspirational achievers in any field including sport, culture, environment, professional or schooling.
Merriwa only awards:
- Sustainability in Business;
- Environmental Achievement.
