THE Aussie Ark team woke to their first blanket of snow this morning, with Tasmanian devil joeys seeking warmth in their mum’s pouches.
Snowfall occurred right in the midst of Tasmanian devil breeding season, a few weeks after the first pouch checks, which confirmed nine new joeys in wild sanctuary.
Aussie Ark is no stranger to the winter changes, with the Barrington Tops sanctuary approximately 1,350 meters above sea level.
Aussie Ark President Tim Faulkner said despite the snow, the team are still out working hard.
“We all think it’s a treat to see our animals out exploring their surroundings when dumped in snow,” said Mr Faulkner.
“My youngest son Matty and I are no strangers to getting in and helping out, so we jumped in this morning and chipped in. Followed by a snowball fight of course,” he said.
