Aussie Ark crowdfunds to buy Curricabark sanctuary
AUSSIE Ark has launched a crowdfunding campaign, with hopes to expand its conservation land by purchasing the Curricabark Wildlife Refuge.
The 245 hectare Curricabark property is located high up in the Barrington Tops, surrounded by an open eucalypt forrest and is home to approximately 30 threatened native animals.
Tim Faulkner, Aussie Ark president said the the property would be a significant addition to Aussie Ark’s lands and sanctuaries because of its biodiversity.
“The Aussie Ark team and I strongly believe in the importance of a safe, spacious and wild habitat so as to guarantee the ultimate environment for the endangered species under its care to thrive and reproduce,” he said.
Curricabark has been as registered wildlife refuge since 1974 and will be a great asset to Aussie Ark Aussie, who have big plans to re-wild Australia’s east coast.
As a wildlife refuge status provides long-term legal protection, the conservation organisation is asking for the public’s help to secure this site thus allowing Aussie Ark to protect the wildlife, rainforest and open eucalypt forest communities which call it home.
