Australian Stock Horse Society 50th Anniversary
THE Australian Stock Horse Society’s (ASHS) 50th Anniversary National Show kicks off today at Tamworth, featuring an action packed program including a three-day campdraft, a futurity and maturity feature, extensive dressage and show jumping events.
The show will run until next Friday, April 24 and will see Australia’s top competitors and stock horses contend for major cash prizes and trophies.
Andrew Cooper, ASHS Chief Executive Officer said he’s glad borders have remained open in time for the 50th anniversary show.
“It was a risk because it’s a national show and we have competitors coming in from every state, so if a border was closed we may not have been able to go ahead,” Mr. Cooper said.
“It’s our 50th year, we have a lot of planned celebrations,” he said.
Tomorrow afternoon, the highly anticipated ‘Fountain of Youth Sale’ will be showcasing some of the finest young Australian Stock Horses.
“Its a sale we have each year for two and three year old yearlings. It gives people an opportunity to meet our breeders and pick up some stock, whether thats to buy and develop or to grow into,” Mr. Cooper said.
“We also have four premier events, with horses competing in four different disciplines. It’s out feature event based on point score and the winner takes home some major prizes,” he said.
Entry to the ASHS National Show is free, with QR check in on arrival in order to meet Covid-19 requirements.
