ANZAC Day in Gundy
FOR the small village of Gundy the ANZAC day service draws a significant crowd of a couple of hundred people.
This year there were even more people, with the Gundy memorial hall packed with local people paying their respects to ANZAC’s past and present.
Ellie and Mikaela Tilse were the guest speakers and recounted their experiences in Europe during the commemoration of the ANZAC centenary.
They travelled to France and Belgium and stood as teenagers themselves at the graves of Australian soldiers who were only 16 years old themselves when they died far from their home fighting in World War I.
The sacrifices made by those young ANZAC’s were not lost on our young people and it gives hope that future generations will still gather to commemorate with reverence on ANZAC Day in small halls like Gundy across Australia.
