Aberdeen commemorates ANZAC Day
AS the dawn broke this morning, the community gathered at the Aberdeen War Memorial to remember all of the Australians who lost their lives at war.

Earl Shields gave the opening address, paying homage to Frank McNamara, Hugh Edwards and Gordon Hugh Middleton who received Victoria Cross Medals for their courageous acts during wartime.
Rod Furminger delivered the ANZAC Requiem and Lay Minister Wayne Murray led the opening prayer and the Prayer for the Armed Forces.
Steve Hobbs read a prayer for those who have died in war and Michael O’Connell read the Prayer for Peace.
The crowd sung both the Australian National Anthem and New Zealand National Anthem, before the Last Post was played and Flag Marshal’s Phoenix McLeod and Dean Moorh raised the Australian Flags.
The ceremony concluded with the Lord’s Prayer and Benediction, followed by a communal breakfast at the RSL Club.
