Pull On Your Boots and Put On Some Blue
MORE than 400 competitors from across the country will flock to the Scone Charity Rodeo on Saturday with the hope of sharing in $30,000 of prizemoney.
Jade Smith, president of the Scone Charity Rodeo said they were also encouraging spectators to make the trek and experience first-hand why it has been voted best rodeo two years running.
“We had a guy ring up from Bondi Beach the other day, he lives in a unit there and he and his wife are coming up and that’s what we want; people who have never been to a rodeo to come up and enjoy the fun,” said Mr Smith.
“We want to bring people to town while the festival is on; we put it on for the town and for the festival,” he said.
“If they’ve been to any other rodeo or they’ve been to none at all, I want them to come and check out Scone and I’ll guarantee they won’t be disappointed,” he said.
“I haven’t had anyone yet come and tell me ‘that was terrible’”, he laughs.
“Each year we make a donation to a charity and this year we are asking people to wear blue for Beyond Blue,” Jade Smith said.
The best horse and best bull in Australia will be at the rodeo, along with national champions of the human kind.
The cattle are sourced from tow of the top providers, Gill Brothers of Upper Horton and the Fitzsimmons Brothers of Branxton.
This year the rode will feature a mule ride, where four mules will be let out of the shoot at once and the riders compete to stay on the longest.
Troy Kemp and his band will be providing the entertainment after the rodeo, there will be a full bar and plenty of food stalls.
