Murrurundi on Water Restrictions

THE Council has announced Murrurundi will be placed on level one water restrictions beginning midnight on Tuesday.

When the Murrurundi Dam falls below the 7.5 metre level the restrictions are put in place and Council aims to reduce water consumption by 10 percent, or 260 litres per person, per day.

The level 1 restrictions for this time of year include:

Residential water use:

  • Lawns and gardens – watering systems e.g  microsprays, drip systems, soaker hoses and hand-held hoses can only be used between 6.00am and 10.00am and 4.00pm and 10.00pm. Sprinklers are not to be used.
  • Irrigation of new turf only permitted for one week after laying.
  • No washing of walls, paved or hard areas
  • No emptying and refilling pools. Topping up of pools and first fill of private pools is permitted.
  • Washing cars permitted only with bucket and rinse with trigger hose on lawn.

Non-residential water use:

  • Lawns and gardens – watering systems e.g  microsprays, drip systems, soaker hoses and hand-held hoses can only be used between 6.00am and 10.00am and 4.00pm and 10.00pm. Sprinklers are not to be used.
  • Irrigation of new turf only permitted for one week after laying.
  • Exterior cleaning permitted with trigger hoses.
  • No emptying and refilling pools. Topping up and first fill of pools is permitted.
