Scone Stock Report: Apr 26
By Stuart Sheldrake
There were 970 cattle yarded, in what was probably a cheaper market overall however there were not many export cattle on offer and very few bulls to quote.
Cows were firm to maybe a shade dearer.
The majority were made up of weaners and yearling cattle;
There were few trade slaughter cattle available, slaughter calves sold for firm to five cents cheaper.
Weaner calves on last Tuesday’s sale they were probably five to six cents cheaper for steer calves, good quality heifer calves firm and secondary types cheaper.
Store yearling cattle were also cheaper, steers sold eight to ten cents cheaper and good quality heifers were four to five cents cheaper; secondary scores were more in places.
