Wade Places Third
WADE Miles from Rouchel was honoured to receive an invitation to compete in the world championship campdraft at the Royal Easter Show this year.
Wade had also received an invitation last year and placed fourth, so this year Wade went one better and placed third in the competition.
There are fifteen people from across the country invited to compete in the world championship campdraft, over six nights, with competitors selected on their performance on the campdraft circuit.
Wade and his horse Greenvale Request, a 12 year old stockhorse mare travel to 15 or 16 campdrafts a year competing in the fastest growing horse sport in the country.
“I don’t need to go far out of the Hunter to compete, the furthest I go down is probably to Branxton and the furthest north is Tamworth,” said Mr Miles.
“The World Championships is a lot of hard work and dedication to get to, but it is definitely worth it,” he said.
“I’ve done campdrafting since I was eight years old and my dad is campdrafter.
“Greenvale Request is my dad’s horse, so I’m thankful to dad for loaning her to me,” he said.
“The horse handled it well, but it’s a bit tiring for the riders camping down there and not getting your own bed, but it is a really good week out,” Wade Miles said.
