Men with Big Hearts
THE Men of League were at the Scone Group 21 Schools Carnival yesterday and grateful grandfather Henry Page had the chance to thank them.
Henry’s granddaughter Jamieson Leeson who turned 13 years old on Friday has a muscular disorder which limits her mobility.
Her brother Coady Page had represented Dubbo and Walgett in the under 18s and so the Men of League in Dubbo and Dunedoo stepped in to help his sister, by fundraising for a new car, completely equipped for her needs and with a few fun things like a DVD screen thrown in.
Henry Jamieson said he would be forever grateful for the help they showed his granddaughter.
“I’ll be in their debt for the rest of me life,” said Mr Page.
Paul Medd, president of the Men of League Upper Hunter said they were keen to hear what local football players and their families needed.
“We want to hear about cases where people need a hand, so that we can step in and help,” said Mr Medd.
“We are here to help out all the old footballers and their families,” he said.
Tony Witt is a welfare officer in the local League and said they are only a phone call away.
“If there is a sickness in the family we are there to help support, visit people in hospital, make sure they have transport and to make things easier where we can,” said Mr Witt.
