Chance to Take a Look
THIS afternoon locals will be able to have a look through the new Strathearn Villas on Gundy Road and finish their Friday with some wine and cheese tasting.
Matthew Downie, chief executive officer of Strathearn said they wanted to create an informal and relaxed setting for people to experience the villas.
“We want to give people the opportunity to see the villas, without the formality of an individual appointment and have a bit of fun chatting to Jason Chesworth at the same time,” said Mr Downie.
“While retirees and people planning retirement are the main people who view the villas, we also encourage families of retirees to to see what is available as they are often closely involved with helping their parents assess what options are available locally as they age,” he said.
“When we do take people through they are surprised by the quality and practicality of the the detail which has been considered with the building of the villas,” he said.
“Smart design and a lot of clever engineering has gone into creating villas which feel like a luxury home for active retirees, but are built to meet the owners needs as they age,” he said.
“For example there are no steps in the villas, so trip hazards are removed, but it is not something you notice because it just seems like part of the design which is modern and open.
“The bathrooms are extra spacious and ultra modern, but they are also designed to seamlessly allow wheelchair access in the decades to come if needed.
“And all the walls in the bathrooms have been lined with marine ply behind the blue-board and tiles, so if at any point grab rails need to be added, you know you have a secure base to screw into anywhere on the walls.
“We have used more draws than cupboards in the kitchen so people don’t have to bend down to reach into them, which is practical at any age.
“Power points are not at floor level, but higher up the wall, lots of simple things that make living life in your home whilst you aging so much easier,” he said.
“The approach was to build comfortable villas that people would love to retire in that also have the functionality to support them as they age and will mean they can stay in their own home for longer,” Matthew Downie sad.
Mr Downie said security and low maintenance gardens are other important aspects of a new home retirees often look for, so they feel secure in their home while they are there and relaxed that things are taken care of when they are traveling.
