Police Update: Death of Olivia Inglis
ON Sunday, at approximately 9.30am 17 year old Olivia Inglis was competing in the cross country event of the Scone Horse Trials on the private property Broomfield, Gundy Rd, Gundy, when she fell and was crushed by her horse Coriloanus.
Ms Inglis, had jumped a single timber fence barrier without incident.
Within a few strides she attempted to jump a double timber fence barrier known as 8B which is approximately 1-1.8 metres high.
As the horse has attempted to jump the barrier its leg has clipped the first and second rail of the barrier.
The deceased has fallen onto the ground and the horse has fallen directly on top of her in what is described as a full rotational fall about six metres forward of the jump.
The horse stayed on top of Ms Inglis for a period of time before getting to its feet and running off.
Ms Inglis remained on the ground and was unconscious.
A medical officer and the Westpac Rescue Helicopter attended and attempted resuscitation, but Ms Inglis died at the scene.
