Cooling Down from Day One
COMPETITORS at the Scone Horse Trials are enjoying the cool of the evening after the first day of competition.
The grounds are packed with people camping overnight in tents through to luxury trailers, which Nikki Richardson, committee member, said makes the Scone trials such a attraction.
“This is a real country event and people love being able to camp overnight with their horses and looking around at these hills, what a beautiful spot,” said Ms Richardson.
“Competitors from Sydney really love this event and it’s a great atmosphere for everyone,” she said.
“It is such a big event we start with bare paddocks and now look at it,” she said.
“All of the work that goes into getting the infrastructure here is considerable, the people who help set it up and the sponsors have made all of this happen,” Nikki Richardson said.
Julianne Christopher, executive officer for Hunter Thoroughbred Breeders, naming sponsors for the event said it was great to see the event appeal across industry and across the community.
“There is a great atmosphere here, especially at the twilight jumping it brings people from throughout the horse industry together,” said Ms Christopher.
“It’s a community event, not just a horse event, with lots of locals coming out to enjoy the day,” she said.
The cross-country begins tomorrow morning 8am and entry is free.
Venue: Broomfield, Gundy Road, just past Waverly Road, on the left.
