It was a perfect day for golf on Saturday, February 13 at Scone. A strong field turned out for an 18 Hole Stableford for the David Bradshaw and Rod Vaughan Trophy. There were some quality scores in both the men and ladies competitions with Gordon Halliday having the best with 41 points to win A Grade. Visitor Gary Leake enjoyed his outing with 40 points to win the B Grade prize and in C Grade early player John Kevans won on a countback with 36 points. Fiona Groom had a great day out having 40 points to win the ladies section.

The NTP’s went to Brad Hockley 1.28 metres on the 2nd / 11th and to Alan Wood 1.05 metres on the 8th / 17th.

The ball winners were: Gordon Halliday 41, Gary Leake 40, Scott Shann 39, Duncan Yuille 38, Brad Hockley, Tony O’Neill 38, Scott Reid 37, Geoff Barton, Brenan Reeves, John Kevans, Robert Ryan 36, Clayton Rogers, Stuart Dawson, and Damien Collison 35 on a countback and Kerry McLennan in the ladies with 37 points.
On Saturday February 20, the men will play an 18 Hole Individual and 2B Worst Ball Stableford for the Jeff Harrington and Tony O’Neill Trophy.

In the A Grade Hunter River District Pennant game on Sunday February 14, Scone played Kurri at Singleton and had a good win 3/2. Mac Dawson, Derek Field and Oscar Field all won their matches, with Simon Groom and Mick Alsleben having narrow losses. The next match is against Singleton at The Vintage.

Another popular 9 hole 4 person Ambrose was played on Sunday. The team of Pam and Charlie Manning and Liz and Paul Smart were the victors with 28 and ½ nett. The runner’s up were Gary Taylor, James Smart, David Riley and Ben Taylor who were narrowly behind. The next event is on Easter Monday March 28.

On Thursday February 11, a good field went out early for the last of the ladies summer comp rounds. Catherine Russell was the clear winner with 23 points and she received the Fridge & The Frying Pan voucher. Balls went to Narelle Rutter 17, Julie Leckie, Sarah Howey 16, Jo Brown and Marie Murray 15 on a countback.

Coming up:

  • On Thursday February 18, there will be the start of the 18 hole ladies golf season with a Stableford for a Scone Sporties Trophy.
  • On Saturday February 20, the men will play an 18 Hole Individual and 2B Worst Ball Stableford for the Jeff Harrington and Tony O’Neill Trophy.
  • On February 25, the ladies will again play a stableford for the Lyn Banks Trophy with a “Colours On The Course” theme.
