Weather: the week ahead and recent rainfalls

THERE is a chilly start to the week, but things are set to warm up through the week with temperatures up to eight degrees higher than normal for this time of year.

A system will move across the state bringing warmer weather, until Friday after which the temperatures will drop again and bring the chance of thunderstorms.

On Wednesday the temperature is expected to be five degrees above average, Thursday eight above and Friday six above.

Thunderstorms on Friday may bring as much as 10m and there may be light showers during the weekend.

Expected temperatures this week:

  • Monday: 7-24
  • Tuesday: 7-25
  • Wednesday: 7-29
  • Thursday: 10-33
  • Friday: 17-31
  • Saturday: 14-27
  • Sunday: 10-20

There were thunderstorms on Saturday night bringing a light display and more welcome rain. The following rainfall was recorded by the Bureau of Meteorology:

  • Aberdeen: 13
  • Bunnan: 4
  • Cassilis: 6
  • Glenbawn Dam: 9.8
  • Kars Springs: 9.4
  • Merriwa: 25
  • Moonan: 25
  • Murrurundi: 10
  • Parkville: 3.4
  • Rouchel: 17
  • Scone: 6
  • Upper Rouchel: 7
  • Wingen: 11
