Scone Golf Report: Sept 2 – 4

IT was a breezy day on Saturday September 4 at Scone when sixty two golfers played a Stroke / Stableford event for the Monthly Mug and Grade prizes. This was sponsored by the Scone RSL Group and a great score was required to win the Mug. Some of the afternoon groups also had to contend with a late shower.

Jim Hobbs, playing in the morning, had a fine round of 64 nett to be the winner. Angus Stanford on 67 and Shane Davis 69 were the next best nett scores. Both of these players won Grade prizes, Shane B Grade with 42 points and Angus C Grade with 41 points. Jake Teague rounded out the prize winners with a one over par round for 39 points to win A Grade.

Balls were won by: Jim Hobbs 44, Shane David 42, Angus Stanford 41, Jake Teague, Darryl Dutton 39, Tyler Jordan, Annie Woods, Barb Hobbs 38, Neil Clydsdale, Garry Carter, Steve Morse, Brad Baker, Red Palmer, Andrew Parry-Okeden, Warren Styles, Wayne Hedley 37, Charlie Wintle, John Roe, Clayton Rogers, Gordon Halliday, Robert Ryan 36, David Druce, Paul Smart, Michael Stanford, Lyn Banks, Josh Noble, Adam Brayshaw, Ross Banks, Julie Leckie 35 and Duncan Yuille 34 points on a countback from four others.  

The Scone lady golfers had another good field on Thursday, September 2. On a lovely day for golf as twenty players contested an 18 Hole 2 Person American Foursome / Ambrose. This was kindly sponsored by Joan Faras. The clear winners were Lyn Banks and Nickie Cramsie who combined well to have 65¾ nett. Balls were won by them plus Cath Payne and Annie Woods 70, Janie Holyman and Pam Manning 72¼, Dordie Bragg and Kim Clydsdale 72¾ and Mary Ellen Brennan and June Jukes 73¼.

The greens were cored during the week with volunteers working hard to assist in sanding them over two days.

In golf this week at Scone the Wednesday Medley Stableford competition will return on September 8. On Thursday, September 9 the ladies will play an 18 Hole Stroke / Stableford sponsored by Melanie’s Jewellers and Mitani Café. The Wine O’Clock putting will also be on offer sponsored by Julie Leckie. The A. E. Shaddock Memorial Day will be held on Saturday, September 11, sponsored by Noel Kelly and Charlie Manning. An 18 Hole Individual and 2Ball Stableford will be played.
