Premier: “Don’t get left behind”
PREMIER Gladys Berejiklian has urged people to get vaccinated and “don’t get left behind.”
The Premier explained only people who were fully vaccinated would be able to enjoy certain restrictions being eased when the state reached key vaccination milestones of 70 percent and 80 percent.
A spike in cases on the Central Coast, with 22 new cases diagnosed over night, was highlighted as a cause of concern.
In the past 24 hours:
- 1,223 new cases of covid-19 were diagnosed;
- 11,000 people with covid are being cared for in the community;
- 192 people are in intensive care and
- 75 people are being ventilated.
Eight people have passed away:
- A woman in her 70s died in Dubbo, she was unvaccinated and had underlying conditions;
- A man in his 90s who was unvaccinated and had underlying conditions;
- A man in his 50s who was unvaccinated;
- A man in his 90s who was fully vaccinated and had significant underlying conditions;
- A man in his 70s who was unvaccinated and had significant underlying conditions;
- A man in his 80s who was unvaccinated and had underlying conditions;
- A man in his 60s who received one dose of the vaccine and died at home, his death is being investigated by the coroner.
