Covid: 25% of patients ventilated are younger than 40

THERE were 818 new cases of covid-19 identified overnight and three more people have died.

There are 586 people hospitalised, 100 people are in intensive care and 32 are being ventilated. Approximately 25 percent of people being ventilated are younger than 40.

New cases in regional NSW:

  • 14 – Dubbo
  • 6 – Goodooga
  • 2 – Central Coast
  • 1 – Coonamble
  • 1 – Parkes
  • 1 – Mudgee
  • 1 – Orange
  • 1 – Lake Macquarie
  • 1 – Cessnock
  • 1 – Kiama
  • 1 – Wollongong

An additional 15 cases has been identified overnight in addition to the cases announced this morning.

Deputy Premier John Barilaro said he was unaware testing could not be conducted in Wilcannia during the weekend, because the contractor does not work on weekends.

Sewerage testing has detected the virus in Gulargambone, Coonamble, Shellharbour, Cobar and Bateau Bay.

Of the three people ho died of covid-19 there was a man in his 80s who was unvaccinated, a man in his 80s who had both doses but had serious underlying health conditions and a woman in her 80s who had one dose of vaccine and also had serious underlying health conditions.
