Merriwa Wellbeing Superspreaders: “The Nourisher”
WHERE There’s A Will is revealing its Merriwa Superspreaders team this week, kicking off with “The Nourisher,” Kylie Austin.
A born and bred Merriwa local with family right throughout town, it’s no wonder Kylie was selected to spread positive wellbeing in her community.
Most locals would know Kylie as the face behind the Eat@153 cafe on Bettington Street, but she doesn’t just run the cafe.
Kylie is on a not so secret side mission to help kids develop hospitality skills, allowing them gain employment when or if they leave town for university.
The cafe roster now boasts fourteen new employees since its establishment three years ago. Mission accomplished.
Kylie’s commitment to her community is nothing new.
When her own children Jared, Tyler, Isaac and Janaya were at school, Kylie was right in the thick of things.
Her long list of community involvement includes participation in the Merriwa Central P&C, Learn to Swim, Junior League, Swim Club and community reading day. You name it, she was there.
After rising at the ungodly hour of 4am to bake pies for the café, Kylie’s husband Glen heads out to his day job with Ausgrid.
Needless to say, they’re not afraid of hard work and will put equally as much effort into infecting Merriwa with positive wellbeing.
