THE latest in agricultural technology will be on show tomorrow at the 2020 Global Ag-Tech Ecosystem (GATE) Virtual event.
GATE Virtual 2020 will be broadcast from 4pm to 6pm (AEDT) and will showcase innovative agricultural technology and products.
Hosted by the New South Wales Department of Primary Industries’ (DPI), the GATE program has run for three years and supported over 40 businesses and research projects to develop and make new products available to primary producers.
NSW DPI Group Director Business Development and Innovation, Bruce Finney said now more than ever it was essential producers and the wider industry embraced technology to push forward agricultural innovation and improvements.
“The online demonstration will showcase new diagnostics for identifying weeds, tele-health for animals, simple farm trough tools for water management and sophisticated drone enabled harvest assessment,” Mr Finney said.
“These start-up and research driven projects are championed by the GATE, the DPI’s specialist ag-tech innovation hub based in Orange,” he said.
“I am proud to say that innovation in agriculture is surging forward in NSW and Australia with ideas being fast-tracked by challenging times of drought, bushfires and COVID-19,” he said.
“Make sure you register today to be a part of the GATE Virtual 2020 online event that will be broadcast across Australia and to the world to see the nine innovative projects and to meet the businesses behind these pioneering projects,” said Mr Finney.
The Australian peak body for horticulture producers, Horticulture Innovation, the University of New England (UNE) and Central Queensland University (CQU) have all partnered with the event.
Edwina Toohey, Dubbo based DPI research and development leader, said she is excited for her team to have the opportunity to present to a global audience about their system for producers to objectively assess live cattle readiness for market and make decisions in real time on the farm.
“The GATE has supported us to develop our research in a translatable way to the market and provide us with a broader audience of investors and stakeholders that we can engage with,” Ms Toohey said.
