October Kerbside Collection Dates
IT’S Spring cleaning season and the Upper Hunter Shire Council have set dates for their free bulky waste kerbside collection service.
Scone waste collection will occur on October 17 to 18 and collection for Aberdeen, Blandford, Bunnan, Cassilis, Gundy, Merriwa, Moonan Flat, Murrurundi and Parkville will be the following weekend on October 24 and 25.
Council advised waste added after the set dates will not be collected and residents must only put waste out during the weekend date for their town, allowing all waste to be collected by October 30.
Non-recyclable waste items for collection include furniture, green waste and rolled up floor coverings no longer than 1.5 metres.
Due to collection and processing costs, this year Council have banned mattresses, electronics, whitegoods and metal items.
Every tonne of waste that goes into landfill costs Council $84.10 for the NSW Government Waste Levy, meaning any unacceptable items that remain on the kerb after the collection could be considered illegal dumping and may attract a fine.
Items need to be securely bagged or bundled, to avoid windblown littering and stacked neatly to ensure the footpath and roadway is not blocked.
Council reminds residents that the total volume of waste should not exceed that of a two metre squared box trailer and materials that can be recycled, up-cycled or reused should be excluded from kerbside collection.
A brochure regarding the kerbside collection will be mailed to households, to view the information online click here.
