Steady Flow of Locals Being Tested in Scone

THE covid-19 test clinic at the Scott Memorial Hospital in Scone has been operating since Friday with a steady flow of local people answering the call to come forward with even the mildest of cold or flu symptoms.

The Chief Medical Officer of New South Wales, Dr Kerry Chant explained, “not everyone with covid-19 has a fever, as I said the symptoms are very very minimal and I think that’s been a key learning as I said the minimalist of symptoms, just that bit of sore throat, the bit of runny nose, just don’t go to work,” said Dr Chant.

Iris Flaherty, aged 13 from Scone had a flu for a few weeks and with ongoing mild symptoms her mother (me) took her for testing at the clinic.

Iris said the process was very straight forward and simple.

“It didn’t hurt, it mostly tickled and felt a bit like when you get chlorine up your nose,” said Iris.

“The nurses were really nice, helpful and straight forward,” she said. 

“The testing was very well set out, easy to understand how it works and what to do,” she said. 

The results of a test are typically back within three days and a simple text can be sent to advise people of the outcome.
